Brief
Rocket x Audi was born from the meeting of two brands united by a shared vision of design: transforming precision, technology and performance into a distinctive and instantly recognisable experience. The project brings to life a new interpretation of the espresso machine, translating Audi’s design language and design culture into the world of coffee while retaining the expertise and performance that have always defined Rocket. Together with the Spluga grinder, the goal was to create a cohesive system in which proportions, materials and details come together to build a strong and immediately recognisable identity—the result of a collaboration between two international leaders in their respective fields.
Solution
We worked in close collaboration with the Audi Design Team to develop an espresso machine inspired by some of the most iconic codes of Audi design. References to the first-generation Audi TT and the Audi Avus concept car are translated into an essential design language defined by clean forms, solid volumes and rigorous proportions, with echoes of a design approach rooted in the Bauhaus principles of solidity and formal purity. Taut lines and sculpted curves shape a monolithic and highly distinctive volume, where every radius and transition contributes to a harmonious overall expression. The matte aluminium contrasts with the glossy black finish of the handles and controls, a new feature introduced specifically for this project, while the side panels and circular feet enhance the machine’s dynamic character and sculptural presence. The integrated touchscreen display, featuring custom Audi colours, completes a project in which technology, precision and design become a single language, giving rise to a new expression of the espresso machine. Collaborating with the Audi Design Team was a tremendous source of inspiration for our team and a rare opportunity for growth and exchange.
